Rangpur Rangers registered a 47-run victory against Rajshahi Royals in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) encounter under the lights at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. After a brilliant fifty from Mohammad Naim, it was decent spells from Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman that ensured a comfortable victory for Rangpur.
In chase of a challenging 182 for six posted by Rangpur, Rajshahi lost three of their top order batsmen inside nine overs. Taskin, who had Afif Hossain caught in the fourth over, was on a hat-trick when he returned Shoaib Malik and Liton Das in consecutive deliveries in the ninth over. Taskin, who later scalped the wicket of Forhad Reza, finished with impressive figures of four for 28. Meanwhile, Taskin’s Rangpur teammate Mustafizur may have remained wicketless but was very economical as the left-arm pacer returned miserly figures of 16 in his four-over spell that featured a maiden.
Earlier, Mohammad Naim’s 47-ball 55, featuring six fours and a solitary six, and another quick-fire 17-ball 31 from Cameron Delport helped Rangpur post a challenging total.
